Ultra-fast Cooling
Water as a coolant is prevalent in steel cooling during continuous casting and hot rolling. Water spray quenching of metals got a lot of attention due to its very high cooling efficiency.
The resource-saving, environment-friendly and low-cost steel products are the requirements for the fabrication industries, while ultra-fast cooling system can accomplish high efficiency cooling. The ultra-fast cooling is a significantly promising thermal management technique when implemented in the steel production process and especially in hot strip rolling.
Spray cooling is an effective ultra-fast cooling way to dissipate high heat fluxes from hot surfaces. Spray cooling is characterized by uniformity of heat removal and small fluid inventory which makes it an appealing choice for many cooling systems. RELAB offers a wide range of air-water atomization nozzles and hydraulic nozzles for ultra-fast cooling in processing of steel, aluminium and brass.
In hot strip mill, steel slabs from continuous slab casting process are hot-rolled into thinner and longer strips by rolls that are ultimately led to run-out table cooling. The run-out table acts as a metallurgical tool to provide desired cooling rate to obtain appropriate product. Ultra fast cooling technology has capability to produce fine grain high strength steel at low cost by reducing the consumption of alloying elements.
