Food Drying
Spray drying is a process by which a material is transformed from a fluid state into a dried powder form by spraying the liquid feed into a hot drying medium. The process of spray drying will turn the food into a kind of powder that can then be reverted back into its original form when you add the water. Not only does this prevent the food from going off, but it also makes it significantly easier to transport. Moreover, it even means that it can be stored at more temperatures.
RELAB spray drying nozzles are specially designed to convert food products from liquid to powder. The liquid feedstock is atomized by a spray drying nozzle into a heated air stream where the droplets rapidly dry to form individual particles. The resulting product is a free-flowing powder. Particle size, morphology and moisture content can be controlled by adjusting dryer parameters, nozzle configuration and feed properties.
Spray drying is widely used across many industries and can efficiently dry commodity material as well as create value-added, designer particles.
