PT, NPT, G, R and Rs Threads
At RELAB factory, when we produce the spray nozzles or other threaded workpieces, we are often necessary to consider requirements for thread standard. If the customers use an British system, we must make the nozzle with BSPT thread; if the customers use an American system, we must consider making the nozzle with NPT thread.
In addition to the commonly used BSPT/BSPP and NPT/NPS threads, some un-common threads also often appear:G, R, Rc, Rp and Rs. These threads are different from conventional threads.
PT-BSPT Thread
PT: is the abbreviation of Pipe Thread, it is 55° sealed tapered Pipe Thread, belongs to the family of wyeth Thread. It main uses in Europe and the commonwealth countries.
More commonly used in water and gas pipe industry, the taper regulations is 1:16.
In Japanese Industrial Standard, JIS PT thread type is identical and interchangeable with BSPT thread type (JIS PT=BSPT).
NPT Thread
NPT: is the abbreviation of National (American) Pipe Thread Tapered, belongs to the American standard 60° vertebral thread, for North America, GB refer to GB / T12716-1991.
Within the American National Pipe standard, there are unique sub-categories including National Pipe Tapered (NPT) and National Pipe Straight (NPS).
G-BSPP thread
G thread is a 55° non-threaded sealing parallel pipe thread, it is a Wyeth thread family. The BSPP thread (British Standard Pipe Parallel) is also denoted by the letter G (ISO228/1 standard), so the G thread is the same as BSPP.
R and Rs Thread
BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper), is taper thread, also know as R/Rc thread, and BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel), is parallel thread, also know as Rp/Rs thread. Normally the male thread is tapered and female thread is parallel.
