Gas Scrubbing
A variety of spray nozzles are used in refining and petrochemical processing to handle the injection and introduction of steam, air, hydrocarbon feed, coke, and various other chemicals. Nozzles must be designed to retain their dimensional and structural integrity from turnaround to turnaround. Abnormal erosion or fracture can seriously jeopardize process safety and the economics of the operation.
Gas Cooling and Conditioning
RELAB nozzles are used for gas cooling or quenching to create stable conditions for downstream components' safe and efficient operation. In many processes, gas temperatures become high enough to damage downstream equipment. The increase in temperature is caused by direct combustion, as in flue gas, or by secondary heating. The quickest, most effective way to cool a hot gas is to evaporate an injected liquid. Changing the phase of the injected fluid to gas consumes enormous amounts of energy compared to sensible/direct contact cooling.
